Bruce Jenner to Get Own Reality TV Series
Bruce Jenner, the former patriarch of the Jenner-Kardashian clan, is getting his own reality TV series on the E! network. Unlike "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" however, Jenner's series will focus on a more serious matter – his transition from being a man to becoming a woman.
The E! Network confirmed the news days after Jenner came out on TV, in an interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC, and revealed that he is transgender. In a report in Entertainment Weekly, he said in his interview that he is "a woman."
"People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life it is part of me, that female side is part of me. That's who I am. I was not genetically born that way. … As of now I have all the male parts and all that kind of stuff so in a lot of ways we're different, but we still identify as female," he said.
The series will be an eight-part docuseries on his transition and his life as a transgender woman and will start airing on July 26, 2015 on the E! Network. Talking about the new show, the E! Network's Executive Vice President for Programming and Development, Jeff Olde, called Jenner "incredibly courageous and an inspiration." He added that the series "will present an unfiltered look as Bruce boldly steps into uncharted territory and is true to himself for the first time."
Being a part of the Kardashian TV franchise, the report says that Bruce's coming out will be a big part of an episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" soon. Members of the clan have openly expressed their support to Jenner, through numerous tweets on Twitter, according to a report in Time. Some transgender actresses have also voiced their support and admiration for Jenner's "bravery."
