'Burn Notice' Series Finale: Spoilers and Reflections, 'It's All Heart'
The popular and successful USA Drama "Burn Notice" is airing it's series finale on Thursday Sept 12. It will mark the end of the seven season run for the show about betrayed spies. Fans are eager to know what the remaining show will include, and read on, but be wary of spoilers.
In an interview with USA today, Jeffrey Donovan, who plays betrayed spy Michael Westen, praised the writing staff, and described what he thinks made the show work.
"You have a band of misfits who, though it's probably difficult for them all to say they love each other, love each other like they're like blood. It's an amazing testament to the writing that people accepted that these two burned spies, this former IRA terrorist, this disgraced Navy SEAL and this crazy mom are all in it to win it every week," Donovan said.
Providing some clues as to what will happen in the last episode, show creator Matt Nix told USA today that Michael Westen's relationships will be the focus.
"He came into the series as someone who was very disconnected from his friends and family. At that time, Michael is breezily competent and pretty unconflicted about things. He's very interested in finding out who burned him in that first season and why. As Michael resolves a lot of those questions -- he now understands who burned him and why -- his relationships with the people in his life are really deepening."
Donovan added that the final episode, like the final season, will focus on being very emotional.
"Matt and I wanted the layers of Michael Westen to be pulled away and to get to the core of who he is. That journey is emotional. It's not tactical, it's not intellectual, it's all heart. Even the voiceovers changed this year to (become) more emotional," the actor said.
