'Very Flattering and Humbling,' Says Cole
A bus stop dancer's moves ended up landing her a job in theatre, which is what she majored in while in college. Ellie Cole, a British woman, was surprised to hear that her moves managed to inspire others and go viral, earning over a million views on YouTube.
The bus stop dancing of Ellie Cole wasn't a one-time thing. Jane Rowland happened to be across the street at her café and noticed that Cole would dance while at the bus stop and after months of seeing her there, she decided to film her.
"I've been watching her for months and everybody had seen her going along the streets," Rowland told the "Today" show. "I videoed her because my friends asked, they wanted to see it, so I popped it on my Facebook page and the rest is history basically."

Rowland uploaded a video of Cole, who was dancing along to "Knock Down" by Alesha Dixon, but put "Dancing Queen" by ABBA in the background instead. The video called "Eastleigh's Got Talent" went viral, and earned Cole, who was a musical theater major, a role in a performance of "AH Men" at The Point Theatre in Eastleigh.
"I think anybody who likes music could identify with it," Lynne Paris, the director of the show who hired Cole, told The Daily Telegraph.
The opportunity is "very flattering and humbling," Cole told The Telegraph. "I'm just a normal everyday person who happens to like dancing at bus stops. Still to this day I find it hard to believe what happened with the video."
However, when she first found out a video of her swaying her hips and punching the air had gone viral on YouTube, Cole's reaction was much different— "oh dear." She revealed on the "Today" show that when she has her headphones in, she can't help but move to the beat.
"As my mum always said, I have more rhythm than sense," Cole admitted.
The 35-year-old's willingness to dance like no one's watching has inspired some to be themselves.
It's "an inspiration to us all and has cheered everyone up," Rowland said.
