Businessman Files Suit Over Obamacare Mandate, Cites Violation of Conscience
An American businessman has filed yet another lawsuit against President Obama's health care law that forces employers to cover services that are in conflict with their religious beliefs.
In a video produced by the Catholic Vote legal defense Fund John Kennedy, the president and CEO of Autocam and Autocam Medical said he filed the suit because it would force him to act in a manner that conflicts with his conscience. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obamacare, would also force him to change his current health plan for his employees.
The suit was filed on Oct. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan against the Department of Health and Human Services and its Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. It was filed on behalf of Kennedy by Patrick T. Gillen of the CatholicVote Legal Defense Fund and Jason C. Miller of Miller Johnson in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

"This law requires me to violate my beliefs by paying for controversial products that cause abortions, and it does nothing to improve access or eliminate cost for essential medications like insulin and heart medication," Kennedy said according to LIfeNews.com. "Why is the Obama administration prioritizing life-ending drugs over lifesaving drugs?"
Kennedy also revealed that Obamacare would force him and his family to let go of their religious beliefs that led the company to provide competitive wages and benefits that included a very generous employee healthcare plan.
"The Affordable Care Act requires that businesses offer healthcare that covers drugs and procedures that violate the sanctity of human life," Kennedy said.
"Essentially, we are forced to choose between violating our religious convictions, stripping our associates of benefits, or shutting down our business. The Affordable Care Act threatens the right to religious freedom, upon which our nation was founded," he added.
Autocam workers have the option to participate in a health program that was named to the Honor Roll of the 2012 Michigan's Healthiest Employers program.
Autocam's healthcare plan allows employees to pay no premium while also covering 100 percent of the cost for preventive care. The company also provides $1,500 towards the plan's deductible.
