Busy Philipps Gets Black Eye on Set of 'Cougar Town' (PHOTO)

Busy Philipps found out that being an actress sometimes means getting injured on the job this week.

The "Cougar Town" star posted photos to Twitter taken from the set of ABC's comedy show on Wednesday after a playful snowball fight with cast mates.

Unfortunately, Philipps got hurt in the midst of the excitement when her co-star, Bob Clendenin, threw a snowball at her face.

"OF COURSE I got hit in the eye with a snowball #cougertownseason5," the star wrote on Twitter along with a photo of her tear-stained, red-rimmed and bruised eye.

Once she recovered, Philipps posted that her co-stars were helping soothe her injury with food.

"Everyone is being really nice to me on set cause of my eye," she wrote on Twitter along with a photo. "Check out the veggies & hummus- so artfully arranged!"

Nevertheless, by the next day, the actress was completely unscathed.

"I'm a little disappointed that I didn't wake up with a shiner, just a tiny bruise on my eye," Philipps updated her Twitter followers. "I wanted @bobclendenin to feel really REALLY bad : ("

The 34-year-old actress is mom to two little girls with her husband Marc Silverstein. Known for naming her children their unusual names Birdie Leigh and Cricket Pearl, Philipps defended her choices.

"It's weird people think my kids will be in therapy because of their names," she wrote on Twitter earlier this year. "Guys. My kids will be [in] therapy for LOTS of reasons, I'm sure."

The actress has been married to Silverstein, a writer, since 2007.

In addition to her role on "Cougar Town," Philipps is well known for appearing on the television show "Freaks and Geeks" as well as "Dawson's Creek."

The Illinois native's film credits include "The Smokers," "White Chicks," and "He's Just Not That Into You," among others.
