'Call of Duty' 2017: New Job Ad Points to What Developers Have Planned for Upcoming Game

Upcoming 'Call of Duty' game aiming to take the franchise 'back to its roots'

The next installment of the "Call of Duty" series is expected to come out later this year, but with developers yet to reveal specific details, fans have been searching the web for any clues related to this game.

While, again, specific and confirmed details remain unavailable, there was something of interest that was discovered in the form of a job ad put up by Sledgehammer Games.

The job ad in question is for a senior sound designer, and one line in it is drawing interest from fans, as the individual who will land the job is expected to "create a fresh new AAA aural experience."

As WWG pointed out, this discovery could be potentially significant, as it seems like an indicator that the developers are working on something that has not been typically featured in previous installments of this first-person shooter franchise.

With recent installments of the series featuring the sounds of futuristic warfare and other things similar to that, fans may be glad to hear that the developers over at Sledgehammer Games are planning something different this time around.

Additional clues related to what the next "Call of Duty" game will be like were shared earlier this year by publisher Activision.

During a previous earnings call, the publisher hinted that they may be doing away with the futuristic settings, at least for a while, as the upcoming game will be looking to take the series "back to its roots," IGN reported.

Activision also confirmed that "traditional combat will once again take center stage."

Unfortunately, those few revelations from Activision are essentially the only official details known at this point in time, but it may not be long before the developers finally pull the curtain back and show off exactly what this year's "Call of Duty" game will be like and what new, yet perhaps familiar experiences may be waiting for fans.
