'Call of Duty' 2017 Rumors: When Will the Next Installment of the Franchise Be Officially Revealed?
This year's 'Call of Duty' game will feature 'traditional combat'
Many fans have already expressed their excitement for this year's "Call of Duty" game, which is why it should come as no surprise that they are already wondering about when they may get their first look at it.
Over on Reddit, some fans have put forth their predictions for when the new game may make its official debut.
Redditors "bigshowww" and "billy_paxton" noted that the debut trailer typically pops up sometime within that late April to early May window. For what it's worth, "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" made its debut during that timeframe as well, with its now infamous trailer hitting YouTube on May 2 of last year.
The next "Call of Duty" game showing up within that window of time seems to be a safe bet, though as Redditor "poklane" pointed out, the people behind the next installment of the first-person shooter franchise may have an incentive to unveil the new offering even earlier in order to win back fans who may have been displeased with "Infinite Warfare."
That seems like a possibility as well, though as curious as fans may be about when this new game may show up, they seem to be even more interested in finding out in which direction the developers are planning to take this offering.
At this point, the developers at Sledgehammer Games have yet to specify their plans for this upcoming game, though publisher Activision previously provided some interesting clues.
According to Activision, the 2017 edition of "Call of Duty" will take the franchise "back to its roots," adding that "traditional combat" is also set to be prominently featured by this title, IGN reported.
Unfortunately, those clues are the best ones that are available right now, though those hints do seem to indicate that the game coming later this year will not be quite as futuristic as "Infinite Warfare."
More news about the 2017 "Call of Duty" game should be made available soon.
