'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' news: Beta officially out on PS4
While the game's official release is three months away, fans are already rejoicing as Treyarch and Activision kicked off "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" multiplayer beta on PlayStation 4 Tuesday, August 18.
The beta is basically a huge deal for fans of the franchise since they have been looking forward to the upcoming installment.
Sid Shuman has shared important details about the game in PlayStation's official blog, noting that the information is "crucial" and have been "cultivated by the fine folks at Treyarch and Activision."

According to Shuman, the beta file is approximately weighing at 12.5 GB, which is a whole lot of content, thus download times may vary based on location, server traffic, and connection speed.
No Campaign or Zombie content will be available in the beta, but it will allow players to obtain maps including Hunted, set beneath a waterfall in the mountains of Ethiopia; Combine, a research facility in the remote parts of the Sahara; and Evac, an abandoned emergency evacuation zone in Singapore.
The beta will feature the following game modes: Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Demolition, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Capture the Flag, and Search and Destroy.
Players will also be introduced to "Specialists," elite soldiers each sporting a unique personality, look, voice, weapons, and abilities. The Specialist's weapon or ability may be earned several times in a match.
The Specialists available through the beta are: Ruin, Outrider, Prophet, Seraph, Nomad, and brand-new characters Battery and Spectre.
While the rest of the Call of Duty titles are known for each of the unique gameplay featured, Black Ops 3's multiplayer offers "an all-new movement system that empowers players to fluidly move through the environment with finesse, using controlled thrust jumps, power slides, and fast mantling capabilities in a multitude of combinations."
Meanwhile, IGN has a 10-minute video of the beta's gameplay for players who are still thinking of getting their own copies.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta will be running from Wednesday, Aug. 19, to Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015.
