'Call of Duty: Black Ops III' DLC: Free Nuk3town Map!

Activision recently announced some good news for "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" players. The publisher has made Nuk3town available to everyone for free.

The news came four months after "Black Ops III" came out and after some controversy. Activision's Communications Manager Scott Lowe made the following announcement on Monday:

"With its fast, frenetic engagements and classic run-and-gun gameplay, Nuketown has become a staple of the Call of Duty: Black Ops series," Lowe said in a post at Activision's official site. "While originally offered as a Bonus Map, today, we're excited to announce that Nuk3town will be available to all players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for free starting today, and to celebrate, Treyarch will be adding a Nuk3town 24/7 Playlist to Black Ops 3 for the next week."

The free map will come along with patch 1.08, according to PC Gamer. The patch should have already or start rolling out soon to Steam, PS4, and Xbox One. Meanwhile, Activision shared on Facebook that the playlist will be available until 10 a.m. PT on March 28.

In addition to the free Nuk3town map, "Black Ops III" players will also receive the Nuk3town Personalization Pack. The pack includes a Nuk3town themed weapon camo, three Nuk3town themed weapon reticles, and Nuk3town themed calling cards.

"Black Ops III's" Nuk3town is a reimagined version of the popular "Call of Duty" map for the current-generation consoles Xbox One and PS4. The map is set in 2065 and highlights a new momentum-based, chained-movement system.

It was originally offered as a pre-order bonus and in the UK, it was exclusive to retailer GAME. That piece of information, however, wasn't emphasized on the official marketing trailer but instead got lost in the small print that's easy to miss. This caused many customers to believe that all who pre-ordered would receive Nuk3town.
