Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare rumors, release date, trailer revealed
The highly popular FPS video game franchise, "Call of Duty" is going to be making a significant change of direction in its latest installment, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. After several weeks of leaks and rumors, publisher Activision officially announced that the new game is set to be released on Nov.4 for three platforms – PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
The most interesting change in the game is that the action is heading to space, where players are going to see a significantly new setting and maybe some tweaks in gameplay. So if the setting is beyond Earth, does it mean that the enemies are no longer humans?
Studio head Dave Stohl of developer Infinity Ward said that although there are major changes, the game won't be deviating from the things that the Call of Duty series is known for. "On one hand, this game is the kind of gritty, boots-on-the-ground, visceral war story that Call of Duty is known for. On the other, its future setting takes players on a journey of epic scale and proportions, providing incredible gameplay innovations and new experiences for our fans," he said.
The previous installments of the Call of Duty franchise has had remarkable success, so putting up a relatively new and futuristic plot may prove to be a risky move for the makers of the game since players might miss all the usual stuff in the previous games. However, Infinity Ward knows for a fact that they have built quite a great reputation for first-person shooter games that they're now at a certain stage where every new game title they plan on releasing will be a hit. It has been that way ever since.
The game's recently unveiled trailer gives a preview of what to expect from this game, including high-tech guns, superb defenses, and a very futuristic rocket based exoskeletons. If last year's Black Ops III popularized first-person shooter games and the idea of man vs machine, this one is definitely an upgrade to that.
