'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered' News, Updates: Activision Adds More Remastered Classic Campaign Maps

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered" publisher Activision recently announced that they are bringing in a set of campaign maps dubbed as the Variety Map Pack.

According to Activision, "There's even more coming to Modern Warfare Remastered this month, and we wanted to start it off with the map pack players have been asking for."

The Variety Map Pack is a collection of re-imagined and visually enhanced campaign maps and game modes from earlier "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" releases. The goal is to let "Call of Duty" fanatics experience the entire franchise in crisper and improved animation with the help of the latest gaming consoles today.

The four newly re-imagined maps contained in the pack are called Broadcast, Chinatown, Creek and Killhouse.

As the name Broadcast suggests, big guns and fully-armored guys are swarming a TV station. The concept originates from a campaign mission called "Charlie Don't Surf" – the fifth map in "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare." What makes the map great for battles and challenges is it combines narrow and wide open spaces that will oblige players to quickly adapt in order to survive.

Also coming to "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered" is the foggy, nighttime map called Chinatown, complete with flashy lanterns and based on the original multiplayer map called Carentan from "Call of Duty," "Call of Duty: United Offensive," and "Call of Duty 2." The challenge in Chinatown lies in the fact that every building gives enemies a vantage point to watch over and fire at players wandering the streets.

Players of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered" will also be brought to a wide-open village in the Creek map. The environment makes it hard for players, both allies and enemies, to get good cover.

Lastly, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered" gets the Killhouse map, which is set in a training warehouse. The environment might sound a bit confined but, on a good note, it features "soft and hard cover points."

PlayStation 4 players can now pre-order the Variety Map Pack while gamers from other platforms will still have to await further announcements. In terms of release date, PS4 players will get it on March 21, earlier than the other consoles. The new contents will be collectively priced $14.99 and comes with 10 Rare supply drops.
