'Call of Duty': 'Candy Crush' Developer Forms New Team to Create Shooter Mobile Game
One of the most successful gaming franchises, "Call of Duty," is coming to mobile devices. It will be helmed by the developers of the colorful "Candy Crush" game, King, and they are now looking for new team members.
King Digital Entertainment is one of the most prominent mobile gaming studios, and they are probably best known for the game "Candy Crush," which has consistently been a chart-topper both on iOS and Android for a very long time now.
After King was acquired by Activision (publisher of the "Call of Duty" franchise) in 2015, the mobile games studio was reportedly given the task of bringing another mobile title to expand the highly famous shooter video game franchise.
Activision has released several mobile "Call of Duty" titles before, such as "Call of Duty: Strike Team," "Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies" and "Call of Duty: Heroes."
The report was sparked by King's recent call for applicants who want to join a "new King team, located in Stockholm, Sweden," adding that they are "working on an exciting new project."
King expressed that making a mobile platform version of "Call of Duty" is "a rare and exciting opportunity." The mobile games studio further explained, "Our challenge as a team is to create a Call of Duty experience on mobile that will strive to transform the best console experience fans know and love, while also breaking new ground for mobile and redefining the genre."
As for having possible new members in King's crew for a "Call of Duty" mobile game, the studio said, "The team will prototype extensively, have the freedom to think outside the box, and be encouraged to stretch their expertise in ways to create surprising results."
They are looking for an experienced Art Director, Level Designer, Senior Systems Designer, and Senior User Experience/User Interface Designer. For developers who are interested in applying for any of the open posts, it is important to note that the job will require team members to work in the studio's Stockholm headquarters.
Since King and Activision are yet to assemble the team to helm the mobile version of "Call of Duty," the details on what will go into its gameplay such as modes and plots are still scarce to none. However, reports say that the upcoming title will gather inspiration from the early tenets of the franchise and that it will be set in World War II.
