'Captain America 3' Release Date: Batman vs. Superman Premiere Clash in May 2016?
A stream of sequels is on the horizon for Marvel, including "The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2017) and Civil War (2018)," "Thor: Ragnarok," "World War Hulk" and "Guardians of the Galaxy: War of Kings." New Marvel franchises "Ant Man," "Black Panther," "The Inhumans" and "Doctor Strange," are coming, and the superhero movie machine is working in overdrive. However, one of the most eagerly anticipated sequels being touted is "Captain America 3."
While it has been rumored that the third Captain America movie will hit the big screen on May 6, 2016, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has seemingly confirmed some rumors surrounding the release date, telling Empire Online that the company has intentions of releasing the sequel to "Winter Soldier" in May 2016.
May 6, 2016 is also the due release date for DC's "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice." This creates speculation among many that Marvel and DC will have a showdown with these two movie releases on the same date. Superhero fans will have to choose which movie to see on the opening weekend and will pit Captain America against Batman and Superman.
Meanwhile, "Captain America 2: Winter Soldier" writer Stephen McFeely has shared his ideas on the villains of the upcoming Captain America movie. In an article published online, McFeely is looking into having William Burnside as a character.
While most of the plot concepts are still in the making, with McFeely working with his co-writer Christopher Markus, McFeely has expressed his interest in a villain who "desperately wants to be Captain America."
