'Captain America: Civil War' Spoilers: Gwyneth Paltrow Returns; Martin Freeman Stars As Everett Ross

The upcoming superhero film "Captain America: Civil War" has added two more top-rated actors to its already-super-packed roster.

The latest issue of Empire magazine reveals that Gwyneth Paltrow, who plays Iron Man's lady love Pepper Potts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, is reprising her role in the much-anticipated "Civil War." The film pits Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) and those Avengers who support the Sokovia Accords against Captain America (Chris Evans) and those who believe in protecting the rights and liberties of "enhanced individuals."

Paltrow first appeared in an MCU film as Pepper in "Iron Man" (2008) and has been in every "Iron Man" film since. She was also in "Avengers" (2012), but was merely mentioned in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015). Empire reports that the actress was involved in reshoots of the upcoming Marvel Studios film in mid-January.

Also joining the massive cast of "Civil War" is "The Hobbit" actor Martin Freeman. According to Empire's "Civil War" coverage, the English actor, who is known for his roles in "Sherlock," "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (2005), and the United Kingdom's version of "The Office," plays an auxiliary role in the third "Captain America" stand-alone film.

Freeman, who plays Everett Ross, an agent of the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre, is seen in an exclusive "Civil War" still standing beside Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter). Behind the two are members of the German SWAT team. According to Joe Russo, one of the film's directors, the scenes filmed in Germany will bring Captain America's story "full circle" as it brings the Avenger back to where it all started.

It should be noted that in the Marvel Comics, Ross plays a big role in the fictional country of Wakanda, where T'Challa/Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) is from. It can only be assumed that Freeman may then play a more significant role in the upcoming Black Panther stand-alone film, which is scheduled for a Feb. 16, 2018 release.

"Captain America: Civil War" is in theaters on May 6.
