'Captain America: Civil War' news, cast, spoilers: The Scarlet Witch is brewing something big
"Captain America: Civil War" already finished filming, but it's still a long way to go before it's ready to hit theaters next year. The upcoming movie will be the beginning of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and basing on the poster, there will be a lot of superheroes involved, ready to choose sides between Captain America and Ironman. However, one character that is noticed missing is Scarlet Witch.
Scarlet Witch was a prominent character introduced in the "Avengers: Age of Ultron." Originally siding with a villain after being misled, she was successful in changing sides, which at the end, made her become a part of the new Avengers team.
Her absence from the poster is quite interesting as many think she would be quick to side with the new Avengers head, Captain America. However, it is also considered that Scarlet Witch has unstable powers and that her unpredictability is something that should be factored in. Since she sided with the good, one of the main questions about Scarlet Witch has always been: "Is she ready to be a superhero?"
Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch, spoke with MTV recently about her role in the upcoming installment of Captain America. She shares, "She's OK. She's doing alright. She's confused, she's conflicted. She's found some people she thinks she connects with, but she's doing alright. They released images of Team Cap and Team Iron Man. She wasn't there. She's always the wild card. I like being the wild card."
She also dropped hints that her powers may evolve more in the upcoming film, compared to when she appeared the first time. According to Screen Rant, Jennifer White, a movement coach, is working with Olsen to improve her character's sense of motion. Olsen reveals, "It's not a new hand technique per se. We're trying to grow her movement as a whole… Jenny and I have great pride in trying to make this a huge transformation — the next time we see her — of her abilities." Although there was no mention of which abilities Olsen is specifically referring to, many hope that it would be her ability to alter reality. It is one of the most prominent powers that she has in the comic book, and many would be happy to see it.
For now, fans await the return of their favorite superheroes until Captain America: Civil War is released on May 6, 2016.
