'Captain America: Civil War' Spoilers: Sherlock's Martin Freeman Joins the Cast

The upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" is expected to bring in a new face to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It was revealed by Movie Pilot that Martin Freeman from the hit series "Sherlock" will be joining the upcoming installment of the Captain America franchise. It was not yet revealed who exactly he will be playing in the film. However, Martin Freeman shared some teasers for his role.

Freeman said, "[My character] works for the American government. He works in conjunction with the superheroes and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes' power. You're not quite sure which side he's on. It looks a little bit like he's playing one game when actually he's playing another."

With that, there have been speculations on Freeman's upcoming role. Rumors stated that there is a chance that he will be taking on the role of Henry Peter Gyrich. The character was described as a CIA/NSA agent who works with the Avengers as a government representative.

With the new additions of Marvel characters, fans have been wondering whether the Avengers will be joined by characters from the hit film "Guardians of the Galaxy." With the second phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe expected to be established in the new film, there are speculations that the Guardians will be colliding with the Avengers.

However, the director of "Guardians of the Galaxy," James Gunn, addressed the rumors during an interview with Screen Junkies. He said, "We really are separate from the Avengers, and I don't think people should assume too many things about the Guardians play in all this because we have our own galaxy to take care of. We have our own galaxy to save. Earth is the Avengers' province. Thinking that everything is going to come together in a perfect way is not necessarily the way it's going to happen."

"Captain America: Civil War" is expected to premiere on May 6, 2016.
