'Captain Marvel' Release Date News: Film Kicks Off Production in January 2018, Slated for Release March 2019
Marvel Studios has been known for planning its films years ahead, and that seems to be the case with the solo "Captain Marvel" movie. Recent updates point out that the production date for the film kicks off on Jan. 8, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia.
As of now, little is known about the upcoming film except for Brie Larson playing the lead role of Carol Danvers. This week, however, My Entertainment World dropped the first major update about the film after updating its production start date.
While Marvel has not yet confirmed the news, the site is known for its reliable film updates so it is safe to assume that the January 2018 production date is true. Previously, the studio confirmed that they were in the process of looking for a director. Since the production date is in early 2018, then the team still has enough lead time to find the right director before the film officially goes underway.
Meanwhile, Larson recently talked about her role in the upcoming film. "I was once a young girl and I was confused by what a hero was and what I wanted to be when I grow up and what was important to me. And so, I think it's so complicated growing up and to attempt to become a symbol of truth and navigating through all the weird questions of growing up," she said.
The actress said portraying the role makes her feel emotional since the role is so important to her. According to Larson, just the fact that her character can be a bridge between Earth and space is already moving to her. "I'm just inspired," she said.
In the Marvel Universe, Captain Marvel is one of the most powerful and prominent heroes, both as a superheroine and as a member of the Avengers.
"Captain Marvel" hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
