With that, there has been several fan theories on who could be taking on the role. One of the actresses in line for the role of "Captain Marvel" is Emily Blunt. However, Blunt recently spoke to Collider about the rumors. She stated, "No one has approached me as Captain Marvel! I have received not one phone call about Captain Marvel. I don't know who she is. I'm sorry [laughs]. I don't know comic book characters. They're not my forte."

Another speculation suggests that Nicky Whelan could be the one to take on the role of Captain Marvel. There are rumors that the Australian actress could be ideal for the Marvel superhero. Meanwhile, another theory specified that Jessica Chastain could also be the one to portray the character.

However, Chastain had previously talked to IGN about how she feels about taking on superhero movies. She stated, "Absolutely, but for me, in any genre of film that you do — I want to be part of it, So if I'm doing a superhero film, I want to wear a costume, I want a fight scene, I don't want to be the girlfriend or the civilian that's taking care of superheroes or whatever. I want to be part of the action. So if they came a-calling that sounds very cool."

"Captain Marvel" is expected to release on Mar. 8, 2019.
