'Carpool Karaoke': Foo Fighters, James Corden Drive Around LA

It's the Foo Fighters' turn to sit in James Corden's van and belt out their classic hits as "Carpool Karaoke" welcomed the band in the latest "The Late Late Show" segment. The group later stopped by a guitar shop for a surprise drum-off.

It's another session for lung-busting singalongs as James Corden played host to none other than the Foo Fighters last Wednesday, Sep. 20. There's just enough space in the van for Dave Grohl and the rest of the crew, who Corden interviewed in between raucous renditions of the band's hits like "Best of You" and "Learn to Fly," as recapped by Rolling Stone.

Bassist Nate Mendel, for one, recalled the time he first met Grohl. "Nirvana had just collapsed, so [my reaction to meeting Grohl] was awe," he shared with the group. It was also through a karaoke machine that he got through his first session with Grohl, as Entertainment Weekly reviewed.

The rowdy group finally found their way to a Guitar Center music shop, where Corden, who has been letting the steering wheel go to do air drums, finally went one on one with drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Before leaving, the group treated the surprised visitors to their version of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up," to the delight of customers. Astley has been a favorite of the band, even bringing him onstage with them during their turn at the Tokyo Summer Sonic festival.

The Foo Fighters were a welcome break from the usual pop star guest that Corden will usually get onto the segment, and he was sad to see their jam session come to an end. It's a good thing that guitarist Chris Shiflett was there to let him down gently: "Well, we never let you in the band. I mean, 'technically.'"

The video below shows the Foo Fighters as the guest stars in the popular "The Late Late Show" segment, hosted by James Corden.
