'Cars 3' Release Date, News: Extended Clip Shows McQueen's Ruthless Opponents
When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. This appears to be the lesson that Disney Pixar is trying to deliver with the upcoming third installment, "Cars 3," in which nothing is going to be a cake walk for the red stock racing car, Lightning McQueen.
In the latest extended clip, the limelight is shown on McQueen's opponents. He has become a relic in the race track and is now on the verge of being overthrown by newer, more advanced racers. His opponents bring an undeniable advantage over him, and at the top of the heap is Jackson Storm, a rookie who has everything at his disposal to beat him.
Despite the odds, it seems all hope is not lost. A voice over, who fans think could be Doc Hudson, says, "You'll never be the racer you once were. You can't turn back the clock, kid. But you can wind it up again." This teases that like other self-redeeming films, McQueen is going to get back up on his feet, or in his case, his wheels again and fight back.
Netizens were quick to praise how the movie is shaping up to be. There are those who say that it can potentially be on par or even a lot better than the first movie of the series. More notably, fans are praising how the animation has leveled up a lot, so much that it looks like the real thing.
There are others, however, who are not on board the hype train for the movie. Slash Film thinks that the trailers are revealing that the main story revolves too much on the tracks, whereas it hopefully could delve deeper into the plot, similar to how the "Rocky" series was about boxing but was touching more on the back story. Fans will have to wait when the movie finally releases.
"Cars 3" makes its way onto cinemas on June 16, 2017.
