'Castle' Season 8 Spoilers: Kate's Involvement in Rick's Disappearance To Be Revealed?
The cast and crew of "Castle" are on a break for the holiday season but they will soon be back with "possibly" the explanation that fans have long been asking for — the reason behind Rick Castle's (Nathan Fillion) disappearance.
The crime expert's disappearance became a good plot for seasons 6 and 7, and while the previous season somehow explained that the "lost" days of Rick were spent out of town, specifically out of the country, Carter Matt calls the "overseas" stint as a "pretty lame resolution."
This is theoretically true since many fans expressed their dismay over the show's failure to give a more well-rounded and much reasonable explanation that would settle the questions of "what" and "where."
Finally, co-showrunner Alexi Hawley has an "indefinite" answer to the questions that linger in the minds of fans who have been following the story. In an interview with TV Line, Hawley says, "We haven't nailed the story down for it, but we do like the idea that something that Castle came across during his missing time is actually why his memory was wiped...and it does have something to do with Beckett."
The revelation doesn't come as a surprise since some fans have already speculated that Kate (Stana Katic) may have known something about Rick's whereabouts. Another more serious theory is that she may have been directly involved in Rick's vanishing stint.
It is uncertain as to what extent the upcoming episodes will reveal about Kate's involvement in Rick's departure, but the decision to fill in some of the holes in the story would be a great idea to boost the interest of fans, especially after a hiatus.
On the other hand, fans shouldn't rejoice too early since Hawley adds that the team doesn't have a clear direction as to how they will tell the story in a way that fans will feel satisfied.
"Castle" season 8 will return on Feb. 1, 2016.
