CES 2016 Preview: What to Look Out For from Samsung, Sony, LG, and More
CES 2016 is nearly here, with just a few night's sleep more before the world's biggest electronics trade show begins. The big names in consumer technology will be there, including Samsung, Sony, and LG, and here are what they'll be bringing with them to the Las Vegas event.
Samsung
The South Korean company is expected to showcase its already announced products like the three Samsung Galaxy A smartphones, A3, A5, and A7, reports PC Advisor.
Samsung has also announced that it will be doing a demonstration of three projects from its Creative Lab (C-Lab). The trio consists of a smart belt, a strap for smartwatches, and a hand-motion controller.
The products are still in development and will be showcased to gather feedback and determine their market potential. Samsung will feature these products at Eureka Park, Hall G, Level One of the Sands Expo. CES attendees can catch them from Jan. 6 to Jan. 9.
Sony
The Asian company Sony will be at the CES 2016, but unlike Samsung, it has not announced in advance what products it will be showcasing at the trade show. However, based on its invitation that features a TV, smartphone, camera, and VR headset, PC Advisor believes the company will be providing updates across a number of product categories. TVs and wearable technology products will certainly be shown at CES 2016, but those hoping for Xperia phones, specifically the Z6, might be disappointed, adds the publication.
LG
Another South Korean company, LG, will be displaying a variety of devices, including air conditioning, refrigerators, and smartphones. LG will also announce a new range of sound bars and minibeam projectors at the event. The sound bars will include a new X-Boom system and Google Cast while the projectors that will be shown have "triple wire-free connectivity," Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. It also expected to launch a flexible OLED TV and new interface for its TVs.
Meanwhile, ZTE reportedly will be making some big announcements regarding its efforts in the U.S. market. HTC will be providing updates on its HTC Vive VR headset. Huawei will be showing off its Mate 8 and provide updates on its Honor sub-brand.
Other products expected to be spotted at the CES 2016 include autonomous or self-driving cars and many wearables.
CES 2016 is an annual event organized by the Consumer Technology Association. This year's event will be held at Las Vegas, Nevada and is scheduled to start on Jan. 6 and end on Jan. 9.
