Dallas Mavericks Rumors, News 2014: Chandler Parsons' Versatility Essential for Mavericks

Chandler Parsons was bought off from the Houston Rockets by the Dallas Mavericks, and now that he's here, he wants to prove to everyone that he can be an All-Star worth his three-year $46 million contract. He couldn't grab the opportunity back with the Rockets where he was always second to James Harden and Dwight Howard but now he has the chance to do so with training camp beginning.

Even though his aim is to be an All-Star this season, he knows that it isn't a priority right now. His focus would be on doing everything he can to make sure that his team makes it in the playoffs this 2014-15 NBA season.

"I've always been a team guy, and I'm not trying to come here and get mine and be the go-to guy necessarily. I'm going to do whatever it takes for our team to win as many games as possible," Parsons said. Having said that, he'll have to live up to the expecations of Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle.

Parsons is no push-over though and he is definitely a skilled and versatile player. Last season, he was one of the four players to average at least 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists, as well as shooting better than 45-percent on the floor. This season, Parsons believes that he can improve on those numbers further as he always has.

The Mavericks will certainly rely on Parson's versatility, placing him in the small forward for offense, power forward when Dirk Nowitski rests, and defense if needed be.

"I don't want there to be one thing that I can't do out there," he said.
