Charles Spencer, Diana's Brother, Offers Well-Wishes and Memory of Diana Upon Baby's Birth

As well-wishes and congratulations pour in from around the world, William's uncle, Charles Spencer, offered his own wishes for his great-nephew as well as a memory of William's mother, the late Princess Diana.

"It's wonderful news," Spencer told the press. "We're all so pleased."

Diana was born on July 1, 1961 and was immediately given the title of Lady Diana Spencer. Now her grandson will share the same birth month, and that's not all, according to Spencer.

"My father always told us how Diana was born on just such a blisteringly hot day, at Sandringham, in July 1961. Now that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are parents, it's another very happy summer's day, half a century on," Spencer added.

The Earl Spencer has had a rocky relationship with the Royal family after Diana was killed in 1997. At her funeral, he pledged to have a strong hand in raising William and Harry but never truly followed through. He upset the monarchy by stating that the Spencer side of the family was the boys' true family.

Spencer has also had his own family issues to attend to. He has six children: four with ex-wife Victoria Lockwood and two with his second wife, Caroline Freud. The children range in age from 22 to 7 years. His last child, Lady Charlotte Diana, was born on July 30, 2012 and is named in honor of her famous aunt.

Kate and William welcomed a baby boy, the Prince of Cambridge, on July 22 at 4:54 p.m. William stayed by his wife's side during an 11-hour labor and spent the night at St. Mary's Hospital with his wife and son. They are expected to leave the hospital today, which will give the world the first glimpse of the newest Royal and, perhaps, a chance to learn his name for the first time.

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, as well as Carole and Michael Middleton all visited their children while at the hospital, hours before they departed for their own home.
