She decides to return to her hometown with two purposes in mind: relive the glory that she once had and steal her already-married high school sweetheart. However, things don't go as planned by the role of Theron, Mavis Gary, and she ends up forming a special link with a high school classmate.

"Young Adult" earned praises from the critics. It was nominated in various award-giving bodies. Cody even won the Screenwriter of the Year award courtesy of the Hollywood Film Festival.

Theron is appearing in next month's "Huntsman: Winter's War," which is a prequel of sort to the 2012 movie "Snow White and the Huntsman." The upcoming movie also brings back Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman while Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain breathe life to the characters of Freya and Sara, respectively.

Meanwhile, Theron has vented out her sentiments regarding the disparity between the view of ageing men and women, citing that, on the whole, the public view is "women wilt and men age like fine wine".

"It would be a lie to say there is less worry for women as they get older than there is for men… it feels there's this unrealistic standard of what a woman is supposed to look like when she's over 40," she said in her interview with GQ magazine as reported by The Guardian.

The actress has been actively fighting for the equality of wages between men and women. This came after a hack that happened in 2014 revealed the huge difference between the pay of male Hollywood actors and the females. According to reports, Theron demanded that she be paid with the same amount given to her "Huntsman: Winter's War" co-star Hemsworth as a condition for her to reprise her Ravena role in the prequel of "Snow White and the Huntsman," which is a whopping $10 million.
