'Charmed' Reunion Updates: Holly Marie Combs Won't Say No to a Halliwell Sisters Meet on TV or in Conference
Holly Marie Combs acknowledged that her role on "Charmed" defined much of her career. She played Piper Halliwell, a modern-day witch, from 1998-2006 on The CW show and it's the first thing fans know of her, followed by her roles on "Pretty Little Liars" and "Picket Fences."
In a recent interview (via Philly) at the Wizard World 2017 event, Combs said it was "extraordinary" how fans embraced "Charmed" over the years. Because of this, she can't ever say no to reunion with her Halliwell sisters on TV or in a fan conference. "It's so important to so many people I've already met personally," she said.
But is a reunion brewing? Will fans see Combs together with her former co-stars Alyssa Milano (Phoebe Halliwell), Shannen Doherty (Prue Halliwell) and Rose McGowan (Paige Matthews) any time soon?
Just days ago, Milano posted a throwback photo from "Charmed" on Instagram that gathered 93,400 likes as of press time. McGowan also posted a photo of her and her TV sisters in early June. Could the Halliwell sisters be hinting at something?
The announcement of a "Charmed" reboot back in January brought much fan excitement. It's no secret that the show's cult following has been clamoring for this for quite some time.
Fans, however, will have to wait a while because The CW pushed the show's return. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reboot will undergo redevelopment for the 2018-2019 TV season with "Jane the Virgin" creator Jennie Snyder Urman.
Unfortunately, Combs and her former co-stars won't be part of the new series as it will take place in the '70s. The network confirmed the reboot will have a connection to the Halliwell sisters yet given the timeline, the sisters would still be children in the story, should their characters make an appearance. Hence, the actresses won't likely be asked to reprise their roles. But is The CW open to the possibility that Combs, Milano, Doherty and McGowan could return and do cameos?
