Two teams battling for playoff spots meet at the United Center as the Chicago Bulls host the Detroit Pistons in the regular season of the National Basketball Association.

This is a very important battle for both teams as the season comes to a close as both are hoping to find one of the top eight spots in the Eastern Conference where the competition is extremely tight.

In the East, only the Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors have secured their spots in the post season.
However, things are still very tight especially down the pecking order where the Pistons and Bulls are battling.
Detroit currently hold the seventh spot in the East at 40-36 but are only half a game ahead of the Indiana Pacers who are eighth in the East with a 39-36 record.
Just underneath the Pacers are the Bulls who are at 38-37 and are only 1.5 games behind the Pistons.
So this coming battle is very important as this gives an additional 1.0 game between each other.
If the Bulls win, they improve to 39-37 and close the gap between them and the Pistons to only half a game.
In effect, the Pistons also trade places with the Pacers in the standings as they drop to eighth place.
On the other hand, if the Pistons get the win, they extend their lead over the Pistons and the Bulls and may very well put a big dent on the playoff aspirations of Chicago as there only a few games left in the league.
Regarding their head to head matchups, the Pistons currently lead the series 2-1 and will look to get the big series win in the Windy City.
Detroit won the first two games before Chicago bounced back in their third meeting.
