'Chicago Fire' News, Update: This Season 3 Newcomer Will Be Involved In A Love Triangle

Temperature is expected to rise in the upcoming third season of NBC's hit action drama TV series "Chicago Fire" and not because of the fire incidents the team has to manage but because of this one particular newcomer who is touted to set the hearts of two Firehouse 51 personnel ablaze.

The report from Entertainment Weekly revealed that Steven R. McQueen's character, the new firefighter candidate Jimmy Borelli, will capture the attention of both Brett (Kara Killmer) and Chili (Dora Madison).

Executive producer Matt Olmstead told the publication that there's certainly going to be a rivalry between the two as to who should own Jimmy's heart.

Bringing in the "Vampire Diaries" star's character into the fray is apparently timely as Brett had just finished with her relationship with Cruz (Joe Minoso) last year, leaving her single and available. Chili, needless to say, is also ready to mingle. The debonair character himself is up for taking.

"Everybody else has dated each other or are in relationships or out of relationships — those are the three most available characters. We're playing a little bit of a bake-off in terms of who likes the McQueen character," Olmstead said (via EW).

The showrunner teased that this contest for Jimmy's affection will make Chili and Brett overlook their friendship.

"…one of them defers to the other and fairly quickly we get a nice romance going with Brett or Chili," he went on to say (via EW).

Earlier in July, it is indicated in the report by TVLine that the recurring character will start off unpleasantly. His "dramatic entrance" on Firehouse 51 won't sit well with Chief Boden and if he really wants to stick around with the group, he must clean up his act pronto.

The new "Chicago Fire" instalment is expected to pick right where Season 3 had left off which involve the search for Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer), on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 10 p.m. on NBC.
