'Chicago Fire' Season 3 Spoilers: Casey Continues to Fight Despite Health Problems, Major Character to Die?
NBC has released a new promotional trailer for "Chicago Fire" season 3, and it looks like things are only getting bigger and better for the series.
The season 2 final episode ended with a cliffhanger as it showed most of the firefighters of Firehouse 51 going into a building after a call, and a big explosion was seen. It has been previously confirmed that someone won't make it out alive, which leaves fans speculating who among the beloved characters will meet his or her unfortunate demise.
Meanwhile, Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) has had memory problems since his concussion, and he had been previously advised by medical professionals to quit being a firefighter because another blow on the head would prove to be fatal. Casey was among those who went into the building, so the question is, will he suffer another head injury, which will lead to his death?
Executive producer Matt Olmstead has spoken to TV Guide about what the writers have planned for the upcoming season. It certainly looks like the concussion storyline will be set aside for the meantime.
"Casey has chosen to continue on with his injury that could, down the road, rear its ugly head for sure. But in light of the devastation of this collapse, it puts into perspective what he has in terms of counting your blessings, essentially. It could always be worse," he said.
The showrunner also previously hinted of a love triangle for season 3, as Olmstead says that Severide (Taylor Kinney) will stay with Lindsay (Sophia Bush) throughout season 3, but sparks will continue to fly between Lindsay and her partner Halmstead.
"Chicago Fire" Season 3 will premiere on Sept. 23 at 10/9c on NBC.
