'Chicago Fire' Season 5 Spoilers: A May-December Crossover Romance; Dawson Quits Firefighting for Son?
A new teaser video carrying messages of unity and togetherness was recently released by NBC.
The "Chicago Fire" Season 5 premiere is still more than a month away. In the meantime, a promo teaser has just been released, and together with some spoilers and speculations about the new season, the long wait of fans is being eased even for a bit.
'Unstoppable' "Chicago Fire" Season 5 Promo
NBC recently came out with a brief teaser for the upcoming season. The teaser is a collection of last season's images featuring fires and rescues, and families and friends of the Chicago Fire team. A voice that is unmistakably Gabby Dawson's can be heard saying, "Never doubt the goodness in one's heart. …or for a single second that together we make a great family."
What stands out in the brief promo trailer is the message of unity that is brought on by the characters' dedication to their jobs. Whatever personal dramas they may be facing seem petty compared to the dangers and risks that follow them in being firefighters.
Family is forever
The promo trailer also seems to convey that each member of the firefighting team got each other's back just like any family. This particular theme even extends to the show's Twitter account, which has the post that reads "Family is forever."
It has been reported that in "Chicago Fire" Season 5, Gabby Dawson will possibly leave her firefighting career behind after becoming a mother. She will choose to make her son her top priority and she will now view her job differently. Dawson now realizes the dangers of firefighting and would want another career that will not require her to run into burning buildings almost on a daily basis.
May-December romance
A crossover romance is nothing new to some "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." characters. In the past, Severide and Lindsay had an intense romance before deciding to call it quits. A couple who had more success in their crossover relationship were Mouch and Platt, who went on later to get married.
In "Chicago Fire" Season 5, it will be Sylvie Brett falling for Antonio Dawson of "Chicago P.D." Their relationship also signals more crossover episodes between the two series.
According to Executive Producer Matt Olmstead, there is a lot to be played with Sylvie and Antonio's May-December affair. There is really no reason for them to be together, but Sylvie finds in Antonio the real man she is looking for. On the other hand, he found in her a real soul and heart that he and his children need.
The exciting lives of the firefighting team of "Chicago Fire" will return on screen on October 11 on NBC.
