'Chicago Justice' Spoilers News: 'PD,' 'Fire' Crossover Will Be Game-Changing for a Certain Character

The "One Chicago" crossover will change the life of one of the characters from "Chicago Justice," "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D."

The task that the ensemble will be dealing with brings about casualties, one of which is a member of the team. This is what executive producer Peter Jankowski warned in an interview with TVLine.

"It affects, very closely, one of our lead characters, and he has a tremendous loss because of it," he teased of the "One Chicago" crossover, which will begin in the "Chicago Fire" episode, "Deathtrap."

It will be followed by "Chicago Justice" with the episode "Fake" and the story "resolves in a very satisfying way" in the "Chicago P.D." installment titled "Emotional Proximity."

Teasing the resolution when the units finally catch the person responsible, Jankowski said that "It becomes a very interesting discussion about the effect fake news, social media [and] our electronic world has on the younger generation."

For the uninitiated, the crossover will tackle a story that is ripped from the headlines. More specifically, it was loosely based on the Oakland warehouse fire tragedy last year, where 36 were killed.

Jankowski teases that this "Chicago Fire," "Chicago P.D." and "Chicago Justice" crossover is the biggest one they did so far in the franchise. "The scope of it is very large," he teased.

"The Chicago Fire piece of it, we put a lot of effort into making it harrowing and emotionally gripping. It's a much bigger episode than we normally do," he said.

Although "Chicago Med" will not air on the same day as the crossover, it will also be somehow connected to the story. Additionally, there is also a classic that has its hold on the crossover.

The EP said that the "Chicago Justice" part of it will remind fans of "Law and Order," teasing that the latter's "ghost" hovers over the former.

The crossover kicks off on "Chicago Justice," today, March 1, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
