The variety of personal and professional challenges the different characters have to face will certainly up the drama in "Chicago Med" Season 2. An extra challenge for the show itself is how to put a balance on the drama between the old familiar faces and the new characters that will be coming in while keeping the interest of the viewers on everything that is going on.
Second episode synopsis
Such is the case with the second episode of "Chicago Med" Season 2 titled "Natural History". The synopsis reveals that viewers will get to meet more of Maggie's (Marlyne Barrett) family. Not only will Maggie be shown in a bigger perspective but at the same time afford the viewers to meet another character who could play a vital role in future episodes.

The synopsis of the "Chicago Med" episode also says that Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and a fourth year medical student named Jeff Clarke (Jeff Hephner) try to figure out the mystery illness of a none English speaking Indonesian man. The patient will arrive at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center already in dire straights.
Family secrets uncovered
Meanwhile, Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) goes with Maggie to her family reunion. He will meet her sister Denise (Alexandra Grey) and in the process is able to uncover deeply rooted family secrets.
Elsewhere, Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) will take on a complicated heart surgery without consulting his new mentor, Dr. Latham (Ato Essandoh). An unusual pregnancy will puzzle Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo) and Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt).
Season premiere spoilers
April will do her best to come to terms with her unfortunate tuberculosis diagnosis shortly after being engaged in the "Chicago Med" Season 1 finale. It is not yet known if she will be able to tell her fiancé about her illness.
Besides a new mentor in his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship, Dr. Rhodes will also have a new romantic interest in "Chicago Med" Season 2. She happens to be the daughter of Dr. Charles and she will be introduced in the series.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) is named the new chief resident. He finds out earlier on that the position is a lot more difficult than he originally thought.

Dr. Reese gets the opportunity to come back to the hospital from Dr. Charles which completely catches her off-guard.
Also in the episode titled "Soul Care", life goes on for Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) after being left by her husband in the previous season.
The new episodes of the upcoming "Chicago Med" Season 2 really have a lot to offer its fans. The season premiere will air on September 22 on NBC.
