'Chicago PD' Eps. 5 & 6 Spoilers – Ruzek's Job Is At Stake While The Team Hunts For A Child Murderer
The double episodes of "Chicago P.D." airing on October 28 features Ruzek on the verge of losing his job as an undercover mission goes bust whereas in the following episode, a suspicious call to the department leads to a corpse in a SUV.
There is a reason why "Chicago P.D." will have two episodes airing in a two-hour extravaganza and it is to let the show catch up to "Law & Order: SVU." It will also keep both shows in sync in terms of story and episode count for the "Crossover" episode coming next year.
NBC will be giving "Law & Order: SVU" a break. At present, it is impossible to say if the two episodes are linked but might have two parallel cases with a lot of the characters' personal stories thrown in, especially Lindsay & Halstead.
The official synopsis by NBC for the episode 5 & 6 combo states: "After a botched undercover job, Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) is under scrutiny by the new Street Deputy Crowley (guest star Barbara Eve Harris) who will determine his future with the unit. A suspicious person call turns into a murder investigation when Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and her temporary partner Price (guest star Travis A. Knight) discover the body of a dead man in an SUV. After Mouse (guest star Samuel Hunt) identifies the victim as the owner of a security company, the unit soon realizes there might be more to his story. Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Lindsay (Sophia Bush) take a step forward in their relationship."
One of the episodes leads the team to an investigation into a child murderer. Burgess and Roman find the body of an 8-year-old boy who's been missing. As the team investigates this sad case, it gets more emotional when the boy's young sister pleads with Voight to find the person who has killed her brother in this horrific manner. Voight and the team make a promise to the girl, but the investigation becomes difficult.
In the last episode of "Chicago P.D." Season 3 Episode 4, viewers saw Hank Voight fighting for his family and it was a relief when everyone was safe and sound and survived the car bomb. Beckett turned up and the takedown with the smoke bomb sequence was particularly well done. It was good that Olinsky was there to help Voight.
Plus, Burgess is very disappointed when Ruzek is ok with postponing their wedding. People are left wondering if he really wants to get married? But in the upcoming episode, Ruzek will have other problems to deal with as his undercover mission goes bust and he is blamed.
The double episodes will also show viewers where Lindsay and Halstead are moving.
Catch the double episodes of "Chicago P.D." from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on October 28 on NBC.
