'Chicago PD' Season 5 Episode 7 Spoilers: Squad Goes Against an Ex-Army Kidnapper
A former Army Ranger will test the police's mettle in the upcoming episode of "Chicago P.D."
In the episode titled "Care Under Fire," the synopsis reveals that Voight (Jason Beghe) and his team will take on a kidnapping case. While Chicago will be rocked by a series of gang-related child abductions, one case will make them all race against time.
A little boy has been kidnapped, and the trail leads to the doorstep of an ex-Army. Knowing that their target is a very dangerous man, Voight will agree to Halstead's (Jesse Lee Soffer) suggestion that they send him on an undercover mission. Halstead believes that his Ranger experience will be useful in tracking down the abductor.
Meanwhile, NBC has postponed the airing of the "Fallen" episode of the series to give way to the World Series. Instead, the episode will air on Nov. 8. As per spoilers, a massacre will lead Voight to ask the help of Vice Sergeant Sean McGrady (guest star Wil Traval). Unbeknownst to him, the man was Upton's (Tracy Spiridakos) biggest bully in the past. She will be forced to work with McGrady, hoping that their history will not affect the investigation. When the vice sergeant turns up dead too, however, the agents know that they are about to face an even bigger problem.
Upton is the latest addition to Voight's squad. She is supposed to be the substitute for Lindsay (Sophia Bush), who decided to leave her post during the season 4 finale. In the storyline, Lindsay was offered a position with the FBI in New York, and she decided to take it. Voight soon invited Upton to join the team afterward.
Recently, Bush finally spoke about her reasons for leaving the NBC show. She responded to an Instagram user's insinuation that she was asked to resign. According to Bush, it was her personal decision to quit.
"Took me a long time and a lot of hard work to get out of that show. Please do not demean my capabilities by degrading my position. I left because I wanted to. End of story," the actress wrote.
"Chicago P.D." airs Wednesdays, at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
