'Children of the Whales' Episode 2 Spoilers: What Mysteries Can Be Found in the Land Called Falena?

Life in Mud Whale used to be a simple affair until a scouting party found a girl with no emotions on a driftland. How will Lykos' appearance change life for the archivist Chakuro, the bowel mole leader Ouni, and the rest of the people in Mud Whale on the Japanese fantasy anime series, "Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau (Whale Calves Sing on the Sand)" or "Children of the Whales"?

There is no doubt that the island known as Mud Whale is full of mystery. From its mere existence to the fact that it has been drifting across the sand ocean without ever sinking for years, questions abound for answers that don't exist.

However, things are about to change after a scouting party that included the curious archivist, Chakuro, ended up going back home with a mysterious girl named Lykos, who turned out to be an Apatheia or a person who did not possess any emotion, searching for a land she called Falena.

The premiere episode also hinted at the possibility that the Council of Elders may know more than they let on about the world beyond Mud Whale. What is the place they have referred to as Mainland and how will anyone who came from there possibly affect life on Mud Whale?

Why is it so important to keep the existence and location of Mud Whale a secret from the rest of the world? And more importantly, what calamity will befall the drifting island as a result of the bowel mole leader, Ouni, taking the girl and the archivist back to the driftland?

It seems that the next episode, titled "Sinners of Falena," will be providing some answers to the mysteries introduced in the pilot episode, especially those that referred to the mysterious land of Falena. Is Falena a different island, or could Mud Whale be Falena all along?
