'Children of the Whales' Episode 3 Spoilers: Is the Mud Whale's End Near?

The day that Chakuro's records as the official archivist of the Mud Whale stopped was also the day that a great tragedy befell the drifting island he has called home for as long as he could remember. Could he have been hinting at the end of the Mud Whale as well?

Chakuro, Ouni, and Lykos' trip to the driftland may have been brief, but it was long enough for the secrets of the world beyond the Mud Whale to be revealed.

Apparently, Lykos was not really the girl's name, but was instead the name given to creatures who feed on human emotions. A Lykos has with it a group of people who will willingly offer their emotions for its nourishment in exchange for an uncomplicated life.

This only serves to make the origin of the driftland girl even more of a mystery. As Chakuro has pointed out, the girl has made effort to bury her comrades, something that a person who supposedly has no emotions would not do. She was also the one who pulled Chakuro away from the Lykos, which, once again, proved that she still does care.

However, her warning may already be too late since a group of strangely clad men has just fired guns at the Mud Whale from what looks to be a mechanical airship.

Who could this group of people be and what business do they have with the people of the Mud Whale? Why did the Council of Elders refuse to speak with the driftland girl, despite knowing that she has something urgent and very important to tell them?

Also, what did it mean to be the Sinners of Falania?

The world outside has always fascinated Chakuro and his friends, but after finding out that people beyond the Mud Whale has been rendered without emotions and have been caught in a seemingly endless war, his curiosity turned to fear.

But after the chaos that's about to descend on the Mud Whale, will he be forced to venture out into the world to put an end to this unnecessary bloodshed?
