Chip and Joanna Gaines Promise Final Season of 'Fixer Upper' Will Be the Best One
While "Fixer Upper" is officially ending, Chip and Joanna Gaines promised that the final episodes of their hit HGTV home makeover show will make for a proper sendoff.
In a post on Magnolia blog where they announced the end of the series, the couple promised:
We are really, really proud of season 5. We laid it all on the field and didn't hold anything back. We think it's the perfect finale to this amazing journey we've been on... There's so much good, new stuff coming your way!
The beginning of the end of "Fixer Upper" will be on Nov. 28, 2017. This season will have the final 16 episodes of the show, all of which to be followed up by the spinoff "Behind the Design," which features Jo's process in putting together the design of the homes they renovate.
Launched in 2013, "Fixer Upper" was one of the biggest and most successful shows on HGTV. A-list stars like Taylor Swift and Leslie Jones have become fans of the show.
It paved the way for the Gaineses to expand their businesses including a new home and lifestyle goods line on Target called Hearth and Hand launching on Nov. 5.
Of course, even without "Fixer Upper," the duo will continue to do what they love and will still renovate homes in Waco, Texas, where the show is based.
Though our Fixer Upper chapter is coming to a close, we aren't done with Waco. We aren't done renovating homes. We aren't done designing things to make your home your favorite place on earth. We aren't done working towards restoration in all things or helping out those who could use a hand. In fact, in all of these things, we are just getting started.
Fans have been speculating on what led Jo and Chip to end the show with some saying they are just fed up of the false reports being attached to them may it be about their so-called divorce or Jo getting into the beauty business. Some say that they do not want their children to be in the limelight by continuing their stint on the show.
Of course, the couple did explain on the blog post that the reason behind their decision to end "Fixer Upper" came from their desire to just take some time and rest and just focus on their family and businesses.
