Chris Brown Calls Out Jay Z: Claims Rapper 'Gets A Pass' Despite Criminal History

Chris Brown called out Jay Z while opening up about his tumultuous relationship with the press recently, and the singer suggested there is a media bias which has resulted in the hip hop mogul's past being overlooked by "white America."

In 2009 the Grammy award-winning singer, 24, was convicted of assaulting pop star Rihanna and he continues to receive widespread backlash over the incident. Brown complained about the seemingly never-ending backlash and he questioned why Jay Z "gets a pass" despite his controversial past.

"This is something I've been dealing with for the past maybe five years. Anybody with a voice – Tupac, Michael Jackson, the Notorious B.I.G. – gets formatted … except maybe for Jay Z, who is accepted by White America because he shakes hands and kisses babies," Brown told Jet magazine.

"No disrespect, because I'm a fan, but nobody brings up the fact that he stabbed somebody and sold drugs. He gets a pass," he explained.

In 2001 Jay Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, reportedly pleaded guilty to stabbing record producer Lance "Un" Rivera at a 1999 party in New York city. Brown complained that the rapper, who is married to singer Beyonce, has been forgiven by the public while he continues to be vilified by the press, according to the New York Daily News.

"I got to the point where it's only so much you can take from the master, you feel me? I've taken my fair share of lashings. I've dealt with the media," he said.

"Instead of being an artist, I've been called a woman beater; I've been insulted in public and judged and being able to not want to kill yourself at the end of the day is what made me say, 'F--- it,'" he revealed.

While Rihanna has publicly forgiven Brown over the assault, Jay Z, who is her mentor, reportedly has not moved past the incident. In February the "Diamonds" singer confirmed her reconciliation with Brown and Jay Z was reportedly furious.

"Jay was absolutely disgusted by what Chris did to Rihanna. Jay doesn't understand how a man could ever lay hands on a woman; it just goes against who he is and about," a source previously told RadarOnline.com adding "Chris is absolutely dead to Jay, he wants nothing to do with him ever!"
