Chris Brown, Drake Confrontation at VMAs Encouraged by MTV?

Network executives at MTV are reportedly anxious for Chris Brown, Drake and Rihanna to attend the upcoming Video Music Awards on Sept. 6, with hopes that a heated confrontation ensues, according to new reports.

The VMAs is a popular awards show ceremony that is presented by cable network MTV, where some of biggest names in music are honored for the best music videos. In recent months Brown and Drake, whose real name is Aubrey "Drake" Graham, were involved in a violent brawl. The fight was allegedly over pop star Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, and MTV execs reportedly believe that the lingering tensions could make for good TV.

"They are hoping a fight breaks out. Ratings galore!" a source told Us Weekly Magazine. "Notice Drake and Chris are both up for Best Male Video."

Rihanna, 24, appeared in the music video for Drake's hit song "Take Care" and the song has been nominated for a VMA award, which could potentially be awkward for Brown if it wins.

In June, Brown, 23, and Drake, 26, attended WIP nightclub in New York City with their respective entourages and within hours a fight broke out leaving several club patrons, including NBA star Tony Parker, seriously injured.

According to police, who are still investigating the matter, there were no arrests made because it is still unclear who the aggressor was in the incident. While witnesses say that a member from Drake's entourage started the brawl, others say that it was Brown's security guard.

25-year-old rapper Robert "Meek Mill" Williams who was there on the night in question denies that either party is to blame.

"Chris and Drake, them two was there, but it's other people that be around that take s--- to the next level. Things just happen in the club. I seen girls in there throwing bottles, all types of s---. All types of people. I never seen Chris Brown or Drake throw a bottle and I was there," Mill told XXLMAG.com.

Rihanna, who has remained silent since the vicious attacks, is rumored to be the cause of the conflict between Brown and Drake.

Rihanna dated Brown, who she recently deemed to be "the love of my life" in an interview with Oprah, for two years before they parted ways following a domestic violence incident.

The Bajan singer reportedly dated Drake briefly after her relationship with Brown went awry, and since then both men have fired subliminal shots at one another through their music.
