Chris Brown News: Documentary Trailer Reveals Singer's Regrets After Violent Attack on Rihanna
Years after Chris Brown was placed in the hot seat for attacking Rihanna violently, the singer is now coming out clean in a trailer for his life's documentary where he shares his regrets about the incident.
Titled "Welcome to My Life: The Official Chris Brown Documentary," the docu-film is expected to entail Brown's life story from his childhood to his rise to stardom. Some believe the feature will also focus largely on the 2009 incident that made him one of the most controversial and ironically hated and loved entertainers of his time.
According to CNN, the 26-year-old singer starts to recall the pre-Grammy party incident where he and then girlfriend Rihanna got caught up in a huge fight. Speaking about the hate he received after news of the assault emerged, he said, "I went from being on top of the world, No. 1 songs, being kind of like America's sweetheart to being Public Enemy No. 1."
While Brown didn't speak much about the issue back then as he decided to lay low after pleading guilty to assaulting his ex girlfriend, it turns out that he was devastated at that time. "I was thinking about suicide and everything else. I wasn't sleeping, I barely ate. I just was getting high," he recalled.
According to The Sun, Brown's mother, Joyce Hawkins, also spoke about that saga in her son's life. "I felt like I was going to lose my son," Hawkins says in the trailer as she seems to keep tears from falling.
The outlet says the "Run It!" singer not only punched Rihanna but he also allegedly choked the "Work" star and even bit her. Images of Rihanna's messed up face enraged fans around the world and the hate didn't stop for a couple of years.
Brown eventually pleaded guilty to the assault and according to The New York Daily News, he was sentenced to five years of probation. He also had to undergo domestic violence counseling but many fans never grew out of the case. The R&B singer continued to make headlines and several countries have threatened to bar him due to his history of violence.
