Chris Brown Pleads for Australia Concert to Happen; Intends to Raise Domestic Violence Awareness

Chris Brown is pleading for the Australian government to allow him to perform in the country for the purpose of educating the Aussies about domestic violence, with the R&B singer insisting his job as an entertainer has the potential to "change lives."

Citing the report from BBC.com, it was learned that Mr. Brown's plea comes days after he was issued with a formal notice from the Australian government indicating their refusal to grant him a visa because of his domestic abuse record.

The 26-year-old is slated to go on tour in the country later this year and tickets for his concerts have already gone on sale earlier this week.

According to the publication, the "Loyal" performer has been given a 28-day period to submit his appeal against the decision to ban him.

Brown, who was convicted six years ago of assaulting and threatening to kill his then partner, pop singer Rihanna, took to his social media to express his sentiments.

In one of his Twitter posts, he said that he "would be more than grateful to come to Australia to raise awareness about domestic violence."

"I'm not the pink elephant in the room anymore," he added.

The "Don't Judge Me" singer went on to specify that the public should see his life's mistakes as a "wake up call" for everyone.

"Showing the world that mistakes don't define you. Trying to prevent spousal abuse."

He was further quoted as saying that he, as an entertainer, has the capacity to "change lives" given that the youth no longer take heed to their parents "nor they listen to PSA's."

Ever since his conviction for battery and assault in 2009, the father of one has toured the country twice. However, the Australian government is currently under pressure, primarily by agencies that look after the welfare of women, to take a stand on the issue and refuse him of the opportunity.
