Chris Hemsworth News: 'Thor: Ragnarok' Actor Explains Why He Can't Spend More Time with Family Yet
While Chris Hemsworth's has admitted that much of his success now can be credited to the sacrifices of his wife, Elsa Pataky, the actor has revealed that he just cannot give in to her request to slow down as an actor and spend more time with his family, at least, not yet.
In an interview with an upcoming issue of an Australia-based magazine, the Australian actor, who has been propelled to Hollywood stardom after playing the role of Thor in his own eponymous and "Avengers" movies, has revealed that Pataky, his wife of six years, has made sacrifices in order to support him fulfill his dream of becoming a Hollywood star.
Despite his wife's role in the success of his career, though, Hemsworth admitted that she has one request that he cannot accommodate just yet: To lessen his workload so that he can spend more time with her and their three children. While the actor is amenable to the idea, the desire to ensure the longevity of his career is holding him back.
''But I feel like I'm at this crucial point in my career—I've just got to set up for longevity or I'll slip off," the actor said.
Recognizing that delaying to give in to what his wife wants can put a strain on their marriage, the actor makes sure to make up for it in ways he deems proper. Apart from making sure to take his wife out on a date even just once in a while, he makes sure not to miss an opportunity to assure her how much he loves her.
"There's no shortage of how much I tell her I love her. But I guess there's no detail in it, why or how," the actor admitted.
Meanwhile, in the same interview, the actor also went to reveal that, despite fulfilling his dreams of becoming a Hollywood star, he has realized that it has its own share of downside, and even described the movie industry as "suffocating."
"You stop becoming a person. You have nothing to draw from because you're living in this world of pretend on and off the screen," the actor explained.
Hemsworth is set to appear in the third and last ''Thor'' movie, "Thor Ragnarok," which hits the theaters this Nov. 3.
