Chris Jericho Not Returning to WWE, Doesn't Want Big Send-Off
WWE icon Chris Jericho is perfectly content never returning to the WWE for a "final farewell" or to compete again. Jericho is enjoying being away from the organization and doesn't expect any fireworks when he leaves for good.
"You know, if I never wrestle again it won't bother me," Jericho told the UK's "Mirror." "I don't want the big send-off. I don't want the big farewell match where I'm in the ring crying in front of 70,000 fans because I'm such a hero and my career is done. I don't look at it that way. My career continues to move forward."
The entertainer has plenty to keep him busy outside the ring. He plays in a band and is currently on a speaking engagement tour. He also has several books available for those who want to know more about the man behind the scenes. So Jericho will never be far from the spotlight, it's just that the spotlight might move with him.
"One day much to my fans' chagrin, I won't be wrestling anymore, but I'll be playing rock 'n' roll in your town, or I'll be doing a podcast and you can hear me twice a week … or I'll be acting in some show or I'll be doing a spoken word performance. It's not like I'm just going to dry up and go away when I finish wrestling."
Much of what I've been doing over the last few years is what I'm going to be doing for the next 20 years or 30 years, and less and less of that will be in-ring performance," he added. "Not that I couldn't still go out there now and kick a-- and tear it up because that's what I do, but when the time comes that I feel I couldn't do that anymore, then I won't do it," Jericho added.
There is no word on whether Jericho will actually make a return to the WWE ring, but fans will certainly welcome him back when (or if) he does.
