Chris Pratt, Anna Faris Split: Separated Couple Take Turns Bonding With Son Jack

It's been a month since Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced their split. Following the sad fate of their marriage, however, the separated couple has been spotted taking turns to spend time with their 5-year-old son Jack.

Faris spent Saturday with Jack at the carnival and street fair in Los Angeles. Then on Sunday, the boy was with his dad and they ate ice cream while strolling around the neighborhood.

The separated parents are making Jack their priority and have reportedly gone into therapy for the sake of their son. If Pratt and Faris could no longer work out the issues in their marriage, then they are in therapy to ensure that they can parent Jack properly amid the split.

"They are going through couples counseling now, which is what you do when you want to divorce and there are children involved," a source revealed, adding that Pratt and Faris want to make co-parenting work.

On Aug. 6, Pratt and Faris released a joint statement announcing their legal separation.

Legal experts said that pursuing legal separation means that Pratt and Faris might not want their marriage completely dissolved and there are advantages to going this route instead of divorce. This doesn't mean a potential reconciliation but the process is supposed to be less stressful than divorce, especially if there are kids in the marriage.

Some couple also opts to legally separate instead of divorce for religious or moral reason. But legally separated couples could also choose to divorce later on.

Meanwhile, Allison Janey, Faris' co-star on "Mom," told Entertainment Tonight that the separating couple has the cast's love and support. Faris is back at work on the set in Los Angeles.

"[Anna's] a very courageous and strong girl and very professional and love her so much, as do everyone," Janey said. "And we love Chris too. We love them both. It's sad when, you know, people who have to go separate ways."
