'Clash Royale' April 2017 Update: Devs Prank Players With Fake Balance Updates; Leak Points to New Game Contents
Supercell, the developer of the freemium mobile strategy game "Clash Royale," joined the bandwagon and pranked their players with a fake set of balance changes that were too good to be true. Meanwhile a recent leak suggests that new contents will arrive in the game.
On April Fool's Day, Supercell claimed to have "suddenly uploaded" a new set of balancing updates, explaining that "these changes are so pressing" that they did not bother giving "Clash Royale" players the "time to digest and discuss what's coming, as well as adapt your decks and card upgrade choices accordingly."
However, if one would look into the game's official community forum, it looked like the developers have fooled a few to none.
The fake set of balancing updates include a Giant Tombstone that breeds Giant Skeletons and was referred to by Supercell as the "missing one key ingredient for bigger success." Supercell has also let their fans dream that Mortars can start shooting Goblin Barrels while the X-Bow weapon can target everything.
On the other hand, an info leak reported by Games Troops is said to have revealed the real balance changes and new contents for "Clash Royale" slated to arrive for the April 2017 patch.
In terms of balancing updates, Supercell is rumored to lessen the Royal Giant and Sparky damage by 6 percent and 30 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, the health of Furnace and Barbarians are expected to be lowered by 7 percent and 8 percent respectively. Tesla gets a "new stun mechanism" but obtains lower hitpoints by 5 percent.
Considering the recent series of pranks, Games Troops maintained that the leaked balancing update is more likely to actually arrive in the game and it is expected to go live on Friday, April 7. However, it is still best to take it with a pinch of salt since Supercell is yet to corroborate the leak.
