Cleveland Browns Left Tackle Joe Thomas Suffers Torn Left Triceps, Out for the Season

One of the few bright spots on the Cleveland Browns roster has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The team has announced that 10-time Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas is done for the season after he suffered a tear to his left triceps tendon in the third quarter of their game against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.

Thomas' consecutive offensive snaps streak, reportedly at 10,363, has officially come to an end. The streak is believed to be the longest in National Football League (NFL) history. He has also started in 167 consecutive games.

"Obviously you don't ever expect to be injured, but as a football player you have to always understand the realities of the violent sport that we play, that at any moment it could be taken away from you and you could be sitting on the bench and rehabbing an injury. I think in the back of your mind you are always prepared for it, but you are not always ready for it," Thomas said, via the Browns' official website.

Thomas has already undergone surgery to repair the damage in his left triceps and a full recovery is expected. He said rehab is expected to take between six to nine months.

The seven-time first-team All-Pro offensive tackle still has a year remaining on his contract, but his future seems up in the air after the injury.

"Am I done playing? I don't know. I think that's a decision that's best talked about in the offseason," Thomas stated, via ESPN.

With Thomas sidelined, Spencer Drango is expected to get the start at left tackle when the Browns take on the Minnesota Vikings in London this Sunday. However, he may not hold on to the spot for long because the Browns will evaluate other options during their bye week.
