Cleveland Browns NFL Trade Rumors: Are the Browns Pursuing Kirk Cousins?

Some conflicting reports about the Cleveland Browns' interest in Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins have come out in the past few days.

Citing a league source, ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio said the Browns would consider trading for Cousins. However, the quarterback might not like the idea of getting shipped to Cleveland.

"Another source said that, when Cousins chose to sign his franchise tender last week, the one concern he had is that, after the tender is signed, he can be traded. He specifically was concerned about being traded to Cleveland," Florio stated in his report.

On the other hand, Cleveland.com beat writer Mary Kay Cabot said the Browns were not pursuing Cousins, but three other teams did and the Redskins reportedly turned them down. Cabot explained that trading for Cousins was risky and they would have to give up draft picks as well.

However, "The Herd" host Colin Cowherd seems to think that acquiring Cousins is a good idea and he said they should not hesitate to give up the first overall pick for the quarterback. Well, actually that does make sense. Cowherd has pointed out that a lot of high draft picks don't pan out, so why not go after a quarterback who has already proven that he can play at a high level?

In the midst of all the speculations, Cousins appeared on Adam Schefter's podcast to clear the air and deny that he personally asked Redskins owner Dan Snyder to trade him.

"I did inquire if there was any interest in trading me to get an understanding of their perspective. The answer I got back was Mr. Snyder communicated his belief in me and desire for me to remain a Redskin," he said during the interview.

Cousins will continue to see his name at the center of trade rumors if he stays with the Redskins, so he may as well get used to it.
