Cleveland Browns' Brock Osweiler Will Be Treated Like a Browns Quarterback 'Until He's Not'
It's been weeks now since the Houston Texans dumped quarterback Brock Osweiler and his huge contract on the Cleveland Browns. At first, everyone thought they were planning to pass him around like a hot potato, but surprisingly, Osweiler's still on the roster. At least for now.
In an interview with NFL.com's Jeremy Bergman, Browns head coach Hue Jackson said they were going to treat Osweiler like any other player on their team "until he's not." "He's a guy that's gonna come in and compete. We haven't had an opportunity to meet with him from a football standpoint because of the rules," Jackson said.
Well, it appears that the quarterback is still not part of their long-term plans and they may move him sooner or later. In an interview with Cleveland.com, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam also said that Osweiler's place in the team is still up in the air. And while he heaped some praises on the quarterback, Haslam made it clear that their main goal is acquiring a second-round draft pick.

"Brock could be on our team or we could trade him," Haslam said during the interview. "We're excited about getting the second-round pick and we're excited to add a guy to our roster who has won games in the NFL. We now have eight first- or second-round picks in the next two years. We're excited about that," he continued.
The trade was a win-win for both teams. The Texans finally got rid of Osweiler and the Browns were more than happy to absorb his contract. As long as they get a second-round draft pick in return, of course. Meanwhile, Texans owner Bob McNair still couldn't believe that they managed to pull off the trade and he's really glad to see Osweiler leave.
Osweiler is as good as gone when the Browns find a team that is willing to acquire his services. They can also release him if they fail to find a suitor.
