'Clione no Akari' Episode 11 Spoilers: Who Sent the Mysterious Text Message?

The summer festival is over and the morning after is steeped in tears in the short-form Japanese anime series, "Clione no Akari."

After enjoying the final night of the festival with Takashi and Kyoko, Minori went away and left her phone beside her sleeping friends while they were waiting for the rain to stop. When Kyoko woke up in the morning and found out that Minori was gone, she and Takashi, along with the three bullies from the takoyaki stand, plus Nanami and Sayaka's crew, scoured the beach and nearby vicinities in search for her.

However, their efforts were all in vain when not shortly after they began searching for Minori, the missing girl's aunt has called the school, which then called Takashi to tell him that Minori has already passed away in the hospital at the break of dawn.

Fans have different impressions about what happened that night at the festival. While some believed that Minori had really been there to spend time with her friends before going back to the hospital at dawn, others speculate that it might've been Minori's spirit that the kids saw at the festival, born out of her deep desire to enjoy it with her friends.

There are still two episodes left in the series, and one important mystery has yet to be resolved: who sent the message inviting Takashi and Kyoko to the summer festival?

Sayaka had an interesting theory about it, which one of the takoyaki stand bullies seconded. They both suggest that the text message may have been sent by Takashi and Kyoko in response to the unsent draft in Minori's phone. But since Minori's phone has no existing contract, Takashi and Kyoko's messages ended up in each other's mailbox instead.

It's a strange theory that doesn't make much sense at this point, but which will hopefully be explained further in the upcoming penultimate episode.

"Clione no Akari" airs on Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX and midnight JST on Sun TV. Information on other broadcast schedules and online resources can be found on the series' official site. Episodes are also available for regions outside Japan via Amazon Prime's Anime Strike service.
