Clothing of Missing Maine Students Found on Rocks

Police have found clothing belonging to either Zachary Wells or Prescott Wright, both of whom have been missing since last Thursday. The two were in a yacht class together and were reported missing after failing to show up to classes in Maine. Police have launched a search for the young men.

Police Chief Craig Sanford told ABC News that clothing had been found on the rocks of a small island off the coast of Maine. They believe the items belong to either Wells or Wright and are the first breaks in the mysterious case.

According to Robert DeColfmacker, president of the Landing School where the men were students, authorities were contacted after friends said they were worried about Wells and Wright. Roommates told him that the friends had left their cellphones and wallets at Wells' home, adding to the mystery.

"These are two students without a history of disappearing or unexplained absences," DeColfmacker told the Portland Press Herald.

Wells, 21, and Wright, 23, of Kennebunkport, Maine, were last seen six days ago at a small party at Wells' home. Police told the Press Herald that the men may have been intoxicated; other than that, they have no theories or leads in the case. Adding to the eeriness is the fact that only one of the men owns a vehicle, and it is still at the residence.

Police do not suspect foul play but are baffled by the disappearance.

"There's no one area to pinpoint because we don't know where they might have gone," Sanford said. "We have no idea how they left, or why. The whole thing is perplexing to us."

Not only are police conducting searches by land; they are also using helicopters to get a better view of the grounds surrounding the school. Police are also conducting searches in the waters, given that the two knew how to yacht and were enrolled in boat-building classes.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Kennebunkport Police Department at 207-967-2454.
